The significant other finally got career advancement on what he's been working on since we relocated to Denver. What this means is I might have to disappear for an inevitable amount of time as we relocate ourselves to lovely state of Alabama. He's going back into the Army as a Warrant Officer to fly helicopters, so we will be relocating to Ft. Rucker. We just got the news at lunch time today. I don't have dates, I'm not sure when everything will start to happen, but I have a feeling when things do occur, it's going to be fast paced and nerve racking.
This wasn't what I meant to write about when I opened the journal screen, but it's the immediate thing on my mind. Change... while exhilarating, can really be scary too. I'm not sure if I'm ready for this, but I know now that I really haven't a choice in the matter. It will be nice to not be the main source of income as well.
Anyways, what I wanted to write about was opinions on separated accounts. I'm getting into Photography more and I have been debating on making a separate account to handle that. I just haven't been able to evaluate the pros and cons of such a decision. Is it good to separate out different interests or is it better to keep it in one central spot? Do people even really care or do you like seeing a variety of work from one person especially with sporadic interests like what I have?

I think it should stay as one account. I for one would get confused (probably) as to which other account you are (if you even give me that account name). I've tried the double barrel before, myself, and it ends up being a huge hassle to logout/login every time you have something new to put up. Given the hoops you have to jump through on DA in the first place, this adds one more frustration. IMO.
And yes. I still read you. Even though I haven't contributed to the DA community in over... a year? Two? They just CAN'T CONTAIN THIS!

It's definitely good to see you still around
I'm kind of thinking that I like to two account approach. Not that you couldn't just have different folders to organize things. Mostly it's because you're likely to have a bunch. And that tends to make it a little difficult to notice it all.
That's what I was wondering with the two account approach. I've gotten some good arguments for and against, so I'm not sure now if I even want to make the effort. My worry is flooding people's watches with things they aren't interested in (like they originally watched me for my digital art work and not photography).
I think I might be trying to make things harder for myself =/
I can see it both ways, about the accounts. I would prefer that dA just give us some better organizational tools. I know you can set up gallery folders and I know you can display selected folders on your profile page, but still...the bigger your gallery gets, it inevitably feels cluttered, no matter how you try to organize it.
What's really irritating me right now is the "also by the artist" thumbnails on the deviation pages. A great idea, but shouldn't we be able to set up a folder that it chooses from, so that memes and deviantIDs and such don't pop up there...? That bugs the hell outta me. >.>
Argh. Anyway. It's the little things like that, that we don't have enough control over yet, that make me lean towards separate accounts. If it weren't for that, though, I'd stick with one.
They have it where in groups you can break the folders down further. I hope they plan to let us do that with the profiles, but maybe they have and I haven't checked in a while to see about reorganizing. My other fear is flooding people's boxes with too many things (photos are so much quicker to do than digital art haha). But, ah hell... I think might be trying to complicate things for me too.
And I so agree with you on the new also by artist box. I have been horrified to see beginning pieces from when I first started pop up in the rotation (like, really? really? I want people to dive that far back into my account?) It's a reminder to go back to adding things to scraps
2)stay safe, both
3) ummm..trading Denver for Alabama is...not a career move
Speaking personally, of course
4) We 'know you' as you. Better, IMO, to keep all your work in one account, and segregate your page. For one thing, if you want feedback, it's much easier to say (for example) 'you seem to have the same feeling for color in your photographs as you do in your 3d artwork/drawings/whatever. Jurs easier for everyone to keep track.
Orrrr...maybe it's just that I too fear change...
That's a very good point. I actually hadn't noticed the similarity between the mediums (see and this is why I asked what others thought because they'll speak of or point something out that wouldn't of occurred to me). Based on current feedback, I think I might be sticking with one account and hope that DA gives us a bit more control in organizing things.
